Every year, Citizens Advice run their Scams Awareness campaign, which aims to create a network of confident, alert consumers who know what to do when they spot a scam.
The 2026 Scams Awareness campaign will run between 12 October & 25 October 2026, with a focus on supporting consumers around trader scams.
Scams Awareness is an annual campaign aimed at:
- Giving people skills to identify scams
- Encouraging people to share their experiences
- Helping people gain confidence to report scams
With reports on the rise in reports of roofing scams in relation to the broader theme of trader scams, Citizens Advice are asking people to be particularly vigilant around the dangers of this.
Councillor Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Strategic Planning and Public Protection said, “it’s vitally important that as many people as possible are aware of the dangers of scams in an ever-changing world in this regard.
“That’s why it’s vitally important that people are aware of the signs of a scam developing and feel confident in reporting it in the correct way to both protect themselves and others from the dangers and serious consequences of scams within our communities.”
