We can now confirm that Wrexham Registration Service will re-commence registration of births on Monday, August 3 for babies born in Ysbyty Maelor, Wrecsam.

To keep customers and staff safe during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and to use our limited resources in the best way possible, we have made changes to our registration services.

No matter how mild your symptoms are, you should get a test for Coronavirus

Due to the volume of births requiring registration, we have arranged the following:

If you live in Wrexham and all other areas, please contact 01978 298997 to arrange an appointment in Wrexham, using the guidelines outlined below.  Please be aware that payment for certificates will be required when making the appointment.

If you live in Flintshire but your baby was born in Wrexham, please contact Flintshire Registration Service on 01352 703333.  This will be for an interim period and you will be able to conduct a full birth registration at that office and receive your certificates as required.

  • For babies born in February and March – please contact us for appointments week commencing 3 August 2020.
  • For babies born in April and May – please contact us for appointments week commencing 10 August 2020.
  • For babies born from June onwards – please contact us for appointments week commencing 17 August 2020.

Your appointment will take around 20 minutes and there is no charge.

Please note: birth registrations are required to be carried out at a face-to-face appointment with a registrar.  For your safety, we have introduced measures such as hand sanitiser and gloves and we will be using a larger room to allow social distancing.

We ask for your patience at this time, as we are expecting a high level of calls due to the demand for this service.  With this in mind, please adhere to the guidelines outlined above.

Requests made for appointments via email will not be accepted.  For any enquiries regarding birth registrations, please review our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ link on our web-site https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/service/wrexham-register-office/frequently-asked-questions-birth-registration
