Wrexham is gearing up for a bumper weekend of activity and entertainment with three major events taking place this weekend.
Firstly we will welcome people from across the UK and Europe to the best Comic Con there is when Wales Comic Con takes place at Glyndwr University.
This twice yearly event draws thousands to Wrexham – many dressed for the part – to meet their favourite stars from the world of action, adventure, science fiction and sport.
Some of the cosplayers are spectacular and really deserve the credit they get. From Daleks to Batman you’ll get to see them all!

It’s also a great time for local businesses as many choose to stay in the area and it’s estimated that Comic Con brings in £1 million to Wrexham and the surrounding area. Many visitors choosing to stay for two or three days to take in Comic Con and take advantage of what the rest of Wrexham has to offer.
You can find out who’s going to be there by taking a look at their website here (https://www.walescomiccon.com/) – you won’t be disappointed!
Secondly, it’s Small Business Saturday which will bring many people into the town centre to take in all that our independent traders have to offer. They’re all geared up for a massive event with many putting on special offers for the day.

And lastly, but certainly not least, Wrexham AFC will be competing against Newport Town in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup at My Racecourse with kick off at 8pm. It’ll be a nail biter and fans will be cheering their team on to hopefully secure a third round place. We wish them the very best of luck.
