Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to their families and communities.

In Wrexham, we are proud to mark Carers Week 2025 by hosting a special event to support and celebrate unpaid carers in our communities. The event will also mark Ageing without Limits Day to promote positive, healthy ageing in Wrexham.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from 10am–2pm, in the Wellbeing Hub Wrexham.

Organisations attending include; NEWCIS, Direct Payments, Continence Team, Warm Wales, Stroke Prevention Team, Fall prevention and Bone Health, Advocacy Support, Safe Spaces, Dementia Support, Occupational Therapy, Adferiad, Welfare Rights and many more.

Cllr John Pritchard, Lead Member for Adult Social Care said, “We encourage everyone to attend the drop in event, designed to offer essential information, practical support and an opportunity to connect with others in similar situations.  Ageing well isn’t just about living longer, it’s about living better, with dignity, meaningful connections and the right support.”

The event is free to attend and open to all members of the public. Whether you are an unpaid carer, an older resident or simply want to learn more about local support networks, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

NEWCIS will also be holding drop in information sessions during Carers Week in the following locations:

Monday, June 9, 1–3pm , Cefn Mawr Library

Tuesday, June 10, 10am–1pm, Hwb Yr Orsedd, Rossett

Wednesday, June 11, 10am–2pm Carers Week Event in the Wellbeing Hub, Wrexham

Thursday, June 12, 10am–12.30pm Acton Resource Centre

Age without limits day is a day for us all to come together and take action to end ageism – as individuals, with friends and family, in our communities and in our workplaces. Find out more here: Ageism Action Day | Centre for Ageing Better

If you care for someone, unpaid, there is lots of support and information to help you in your caring role. Find out more about the support NEWCIS offer here:  Home – NEWCIS
