Clear out to help out

Re-use shop, Bryn Lane Recycling Centre

Wrexham Council and FCC Environment are urging Wrexham residents to ‘clear out to help out’ this spring by donating good quality but unwanted items for resale at its reuse shop.

Located at the Bryn Lane household recycling centre (HRC), proceeds made at the reuse shop benefit Nightingale House Hospice, which provides help and support to those living with life limiting illnesses.

Residents can declutter and drop items off at any of Wrexham County Borough Council’s three HRCs – Bryn Lane, The Lodge (Brymbo) and Plas Madoc – open seven days a week including throughout the latest lockdown. Please follow COVID safety measures once there, such as wear a mask and adhere to social distancing rules.

With charity shops still closed, dropping donations at Wrexham’s HRCs is the perfect way to make some space in the cupboards whilst helping out a fantastic local cause. Items of interest include furniture, bikes, electricals and kitchenware. Each is checked over and tested before being resold at Bryn Lane, due to reopen April 12 along with other non-essential retail outlets.

Darren Williams, Chief Officer Environment & Technical at Wrexham County Borough Council, said: “We welcome Wrexham residents to donate unwanted goods at any of our three household recycling centres. By donating and purchasing at the reuse shop, you are giving items a new lease of life as well as showing support to a hospice which helps so many people across the county.”

Carlos Hernandez Laste, Contract Manager at FCC Environment, added: “With donations being accepted across the Wrexham sites, it’s incredibly easy for residents to find a new home for unwanted goods that are taking up space in their homes. We look forward to reopening the reuse shop and encourage locals to show their support, whether that’s through donations or purchases.”

The Bryn Lane reuse shop stocks a selection of electricals, toys, furniture and books, for those looking to bag a bargain whilst supporting a worthwhile, local cause.
