We’re pleased to report that 13 organisations have expressed their interest in becoming a “warm place” this winter with help from the Warm Places Grant.

Their applications will be processed as quickly as possible in order to increase the number of places where people can keep warm and access help and advice available this winter.

Are you the victim of a loan shark? Call 0300 123 311.

Cllr David A Bithell, Chair of the Cross Party Cost of Living Group, said, “These are very difficult times for businesses, residents and families across the county borough and the Cost of Living Group is doing everything it can to ensure we’re providing the support and advice where its needed most.

“”The Warm Places Fund applications will be processed soon to ensure they can open their doors to residents.

“Please make sure you are claiming everything you are entitled to.”

Claim what’s yours

Adviceline Cymru is a Welsh Government funded initiative that can help you find out what benefits you can claim to ensure you “Claim What’s Yours.”

You can get in touch with one of their advisors by calling the free helpline on 0808 250 5700 or visit their website where you can find out more about getting support. Their line is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Food Partnership Funding

We’re also applying for over £90,000 from the Welsh Government Funding for Cross-Sector Food Partnership.

The funding will be used to employ a “Food Partnership Coordinator” to bring together local food systems, organisations including community food initiatives and an action plan as a Food Partnership to ensure sustainable food supplies and ensure healthy diets which will see less food waste.

Telephoning Vulnerable Tenants

Over recent weeks our Housing Estate Officers have been busy telephoning over 2,000 vulnerable and elderly tenants to offer support and help where available.

If  you are a tenant and struggling with the cost of living at the moment please get in touch with your Housing Estate Office who will be able to help wherever they can.

When it comes to the cost of living, making sure you claim all the help and support you’re entitled to could make a huge difference.
