As the National Eisteddfod arrives in Wrecsam this summer, visitors are being encouraged to explore the county and find out more about Wrecsam culture through engaging in Ffrinj Wrecsam, a diverse programme of events taking place across Wrecsam County Borough from 2-9 August.

Ffrinj Wrecsam brings together a wide mix of events – from live music and visual arts to street markets, workshops, performances and family-friendly activities.

Ffrinj Wrecsam is led by local businesses, cultural venues, community groups and the council and offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in everything that Wrecsam has to offer and encourage Eisteddfod visitors to explore, eat, drink, socialise and enjoy what’s on offer.

The National Eisteddfod is one of Europe’s largest cultural festivals that could attract up to 175,000 visitors this year. It is a celebration of Welsh language, culture, heritage and creativity, featuring competitions, performances and exhibitions across literature, music, art and more.

All events that are part of Ffrinj Wrecsam are listed on the Wrexham County Borough Council events page under the dedicated ‘Eisteddfod’ category, providing a single, easy-to-access hub for locals and visitors to plan their week.

Councillor Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, said: “The Eisteddfod visit will provide a great boost for Cymraeg, our culture and economy.

“Through Ffrinj Wrecsam, we want to encourage people visiting the Maes to explore our county, discover local events, and support the brilliant businesses and communities we have here.

“Whether you’re visiting for a day or staying for the week, there’s so much more to see across Wrecsam.”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Planning, Public Protection, Cymraeg Language Champion and with responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, said: “Tŷ Pawb is delighted to play a key role in this year’s Ffrinj Wrecsam, with a varied line-up of events throughout Eisteddfod week.

“From live music and exhibitions to workshops and children’s activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Eisteddfod visitors to also visit Wrecsam and experience the award winning and vibrant Tŷ Pawb cultural space, and enjoy all that Wrecsam has to offer.”

Want to be part of it?

If you’re planning an event during Eisteddfod week and would like to be featured in the Ffrinj Wrecsam programme, you can register your event on the WCBC events listing.

Visit: www.wrexham.gov.uk/events/category/eisteddfod
(Select the ‘Eisteddfod’ category when uploading your event)

We’re keen for all Ffrinj events to be welcoming and inclusive, and to reflect and respect the Welsh language and culture. Wherever possible, we encourage organisers to incorporate elements of Welsh, whether through bilingual signage, marketing, or within the event itself, to help celebrate the unique identity of Wrecsam during Eisteddfod week.

If you need a little help with Welsh translations or someone to check your Welsh to make sure it’s 100% correct you can visit Helo Blod for up to 500 words translated FREE of charge per month.
