Tŷ Pawb, the new multi-million pound markets, community and arts facility in the heart of Wrexham, will open with festivities for Dydd Llun Pawb on April 2.

We’re now pleased to announce the first exhibition, which will launch Tŷ Pawb’s rolling program of arts and cultural events.

Is this Planet Earth? will come to Tŷ Pawb from April 2 to June 24.

Made up of the work of ten different artists, the exhibition will explore what the earth might look like in future, with a strong focus on environmental and ecological changes. The exhibition will feature Wrexham-specific artwork, along with some pieces looking at global themes.

Is This Planet Earth? will appeal to science-fiction fans and people interested in the environment.

But we’re keen to attract anyone who’s interested in the arts in Wrexham, and anyone who’s taken an interest in Tŷ Pawb during its development, as the exhibition will also be an excellent chance to showcase the capabilities of the new gallery and arts spaces.

“Significant milestone”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, said: “Is This Planet Earth? will mark a significant milestone in Wrexham’s arts history, a moment we have been building towards for a number of years.

“More importantly, the exhibition will be something for the whole of Wrexham to celebrate and be proud of as we open Tŷ Pawb to the world.

“An ambitious exhibition of contemporary art, it will show off the excellent new galleries whilst addressing important contemporary concerns. This reflects Tŷ Pawb’s commitment to discussing social and civic issues through the visual arts.

Following Is This Planet Earth?, Tŷ Pawb will exhibit a touring exhibition from the Arts Council Collection.

These exhibitions will be followed later in 2018 by the return of the Wrexham Open in collaboration with THIS Project – a community of artists, arts organisations, creative individuals, and bodies that support the arts and culture in Wrexham – spanning both the Tŷ Pawb and Undegun galleries.
