In Wrexham, we’re committed to giving the youngest children the best possible start in life. Which is why you could be eligible for funded childcare for your 2 year old.

Those eligible will receive up to 5 sessions (2 and a half hours a day), each week during school term times (from the term after their second birthday until the term after their third birthday) with a Flying Start childcare-approved provider.

A choice of Welsh medium or English medium childcare provision is available.

Spotted a pothole? Let us know.

All Flying Start-approved providers provide learning through play in a high quality enabling environment. Children are supported by highly qualified attentive practitioners who prioritise the child’s wellbeing.

Benefits of Flying Start childcare for your child include:

  • learning new skills
  • growing in confidence
  • exploring and following their curiosity and interests
  • developing independence
  • developing creativity and imagination
  • learning to speak Welsh
  • making friends
  • having lots of fun indoors and outdoors

To be approved for a funded childcare place, you will need to live in an eligible postcode area. Take a look at the Flying Start Childcare Offer pages on our website. Alternatively you can ask your Health Visitor or our Wrexham Flying Start Childcare Team by emailing FlyingStartChildcare@wrexham.gov.uk or calling 01978 297270.

You can also contact Wrexham Family Information Service.
