Wrexham Council is delighted to announce its role in the UK’s historic bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035.

This ambitious bid, built on the powerful vision of “All Together”, represents a full commitment to delivering the most inclusive, inspiring, and globally connected tournament in the history of women’s football.

The UK bid proposes 16 host cities across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, with Wrexham proudly standing as a key part of this national celebration. Should the bid succeed, the tournament will unite communities, showcase cultural richness, and welcome the world to our doorstep.

Councillor Mark Pritchard, leader of Wrexham Council, said: “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Wrexham and Wales to shine on the global stage. Football runs deep in our veins, from grassroots clubs to the incredible story of Wrexham AFC, and hosting matches here would celebrate that passion while inspiring the next generation of players and fans. We want to show the world that Wrexham is ready to welcome all, celebrate diversity, and create a lasting legacy for women’s sport across Wales.”

The UK bid promises:

  • Inclusivity and diversity: a tournament that engages, inspires, and unites every corner of the world.
  • Legacy for generations: growing the women’s game, empowering communities, and proving football is for everyone.
  • World-Class infrastructure: 22 proposed stadiums, including venues involved in UEFA EURO 2028, supported by strong transport links and fan-friendly facilities.
  • Cultural celebration: FIFA Fan Festival™ sites in every host city, offering accessible, vibrant spaces for fans to come together.

For Wrexham, this means more than football. It’s about showcasing our proud Welsh identity, our thriving tourism and hospitality sector, and our commitment to equality and inclusion. Hosting part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035 would bring transformational benefits from economic growth to inspiring young people across North Wales.
