Emphasising the wellbeing benefits of nature, the exhibition will also serve as a lush and vibrant green escape for visitors.

Social Art, growing projects and visual artists to feature

As part of the exhibition we’ll be profiling some of Wrexham’s Social Art & growing projects including Coedpoeth Community Garden and Erlas Walled Garden, as well as Tŷ Pawb’s Maes Parcio Creadigol/Creative Car Park – the community garden project being developed on our rooftop.

We’ll also be profiling examples of national Useful Art/Social Art projects including GRAFT – a garden and community workshop space led by the artist Owen Griffiths, in partnership with National Waterfront Museum (NWM) and NTH/NYA; Granby Winter Garden; – a community-owned space developed by Grandby Four Streets and architects Assemble; and Company Drinks – a community space and social enterprise based in Barking and Dagenham.

The exhibition also includes a selection of items loaned from Amgueddfa Cymru.

Visual artists featured in the exhibition include Morag Colquhoun, Harold Drinkwater, Owen Griffiths, Jackie Kearsley, Sumuyya Khader, Jonathan LeVay, Ann McCay, Aidan Myers, Peter Prendergast, Zandra Rhodes, Alessandra Saviotti, Graham Sutherland and Maurice de Vlaminck.

Growing Together

Tŷ Pawb Creative Director, Jo Marsh said: “Horizon Garden will be the first exhibition of our new programme for 2023. Under the theme, ‘Growing Together’, we’ll be delivering a creative programme of local relevance and international significance, bringing work of the highest quality to Wrexham, providing step-change opportunities for Welsh artists, and enabling safe and creative exploration of contemporary societal issues.

“Alongside the exhibitions, we’ll be developing a programme of public activities including workshops, performances and remote engagement, with particular focus on developing new and existing partnerships and empowering the lesser heard voices across our diverse communities.

“Our current exhibition, The Tŷ Pawb Open, has received over 4,000 visitors to date, many of whom have travelled from all over the UK to visit Wrexham. We hope to build on this and attract even more new audiences for Horizon Garden and look forward to opening the exhibition to the public at the end of January.”

Gardd Gorwelion/Horizon Garden will be open from 28 January until 8 April 2023.

A public launch event will take place on Friday 27th January, 6.00pm-7.30pm – all are welcome.

Gallery opening times: 10am-4pm, Monday-Saturday.
