Let’s light up Wrexham this Christmas

Light Up Wrexham
SHARE

As we approach the festive season we’re inviting everyone to decorate their homes and take part in a county wide Light up Wrexham event to replace the familiar light switch on celebrations that traditionally take place.

We’re working with Wrexham Matters to see Wrexham lit up and the big switch on will be at 7pm on Thursday, November 19 and then share them using the hashtag #LightUpWrexham so everyone can see them.

They can be any lights but please don’t use candles as these can be dangerous especially in windows.

Protect the people you love. Download the Covid-19 NHS app.

From November 19 visitors to the town centre can take advantage of late night shopping

Cllr Terry Evans, Lead Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “This year it’s more important than ever to support our local independent traders. Town will look very festive with the lights switched on and a huge Christmas tree and we hope you enjoy them when you visit the town centre to shop. It’s been a very difficult year so far but we look forward to a successful and safe Christmas in the town centre.”

Wrexham Matters organiser, Bobbi Cockcroft, said: “It’s a nice way to pull people together in a collective way, but in a safe way, to keep that Christmas spirit going. To remind people that Christmas is still here, and we’re still here in Wrexham.”

“We thought wouldn’t it be great to encourage people to do that, no matter how big or how small. It can be a few lights in your window or something on the front of your house or in your garden, any small contribution you feel like making just to make things more enjoyable as we are spending more time at home.”

Download the Covid-19 NHS app…and help keep Wrexham safe this autumn.
