A local firm has made a huge donation of potatoes to Yellow and Blue (YaB) community hub in Wrexham in order to help make Christmas a little easier for families in the county borough.
Fry Fresh, who are based on Vauxhall Industrial Estate, Ruabon, have recently delivered 5 tonnes of potatoes in 25kg bags that will be distributed via the Given to Shine project that operates in Wrexham.
The potatoes will also be used by YaB when they prepare over 100 festive meals free of charge on Christmas Eve.
Phil Robinson, Accounts Manager, said, “We’re all very aware of how people are struggling with the cost of living and are happy to help in any way we can.
“We will also be donating anything we have left on our shelves before Christmas to ensure it does not go to waste.”
Nick Williams, Managing Director of Fry Fresh, said, “It’s difficult to hear of people’s struggles, particularly as we approach Christmas, and we felt it important to do something to get help directly into the communities. Thanks to Yellow and Blue who are doing an amazing job for people in Wrexham.
Cllr David A Bithell, Chair of the cross party Cost of Living Group, said, “I’d like to thank Phil Robinson and Fry Fresh who made the donation to Yellow and Blue earlier this week – it’s an incredibly generous gesture that I know will be well received by many across the county borough.
Pete Humphries, YAB Founder, said, “It’s a very generous donation and I know that, with the help of Given to Shine, it will be welcomed by families across the county borough.”
Given to Shine volunteers will be at community centres across Wrexham on Christmas Eve and you can find details of one near you on their facebook page.
