In 2023, over £2.5 million was awarded to more than 50 Wrexham-based businesses and community projects and applications are now open for three more grant schemes with a total of £1 million available.
The Shared Prosperity Funded grant schemes re-opened on January 22, so you can enter an expression of interest in the following categories. (Each grant has its own eligibility criteria and guidance.):
- The Multiply Key Fund will support projects that aim to improve numeracy skills for adults aged 19+ who have not previously attained a Level 2/SCQF Level 5 or higher maths qualification (equivalent of GCSE Grade C/4). The scheme offers funding from £10,000 to £200,000 to support projects
- The People and Skills Key Fund will support projects that help adults improve their maths and IT skills, and move them closer to entering employment. It offers funding from £3,000 to £125,000
- The Communities and Place Key Fund will support community projects that strengthen local pride, including events and activities, access to local amenities, and improvements to local facilities and open spaces. It will also support innovative approaches to crime prevention and community safety and offers funding from £3,000 to £125,000
These grants are open to a variety of Wrexham-based organisations, groups, charities and businesses. Councillor Mark Pritchard, leader of Wrexham Council and lead member for finance, said: “This is fantastic news and we want local businesses, groups and organisations to take full advantage.
“If you have a project that could benefit Wrexham and your community, please take a look at the criteria and consider putting in an application.
“We want this money to work hard for Wrexham, and so we need to hear from people with good ideas that can really make a difference.
“These opportunities don’t come around very often – please make sure you don’t miss out on applying for these grants.”
