Previous car park signage in and around Wrexham was introduced in 2013, and although they came back online in 2019, the information being presented was minimal (Spaces / No Spaces).
As a part of the project, we have upgraded all of the electric signs along with the technology that counts the number of spaces in our car parks which will allow for accurate counting and an accurate number of spaces being displayed on the signs for each council car park.
We will now also be able to amend the LED displays in real time should there be an event or a reason the car parks are unavailable. We are aiming for the signs to become fully operational within the next few weeks.
As a part of this project, we have also upgraded all pay and display machines in our car parks. These have touch screens for transactions that we are also be able to use for displaying information while they sit idle such as promoting local events and activities. All these have been installed and are operational.
Leader of Wrexham Council Cllr Mark Pritchard said “This work is being done with the aim of ensuring that we are a modern and resilient council in providing technology that is up to date and meets the expectation of residents and visitors.”
