Like with many other jobs, a career in information and communication technology has created certain stereotypes over time and they’re not always particularly glamorous ones.

Our great teamCould you be part of our team?Interested?

ICT might stir thoughts of a stuffy office, staring at the same computer screen and working endless hours, with very little company…all of which are very, very far from the reality of working for us 🙂

Our great team

Our technical team give support to over 2,500 council staff – and it’s not just telephone support either…our team get out-and-about to the different council buildings and give desk-side support to our employees.

Our team keep all our technology ticking over so that other council employees can go about delivering important services for Wrexham with minimal disruption.

Could you be part of our team?

We’re on the lookout for two ICT Support Assistants (Modern Apprentices), so if your young and hungry for the challenge, you’ll definitely want to read on.

Both apprenticeships are 37hrs per week, with apprentice pay grade and are based in the Old Library on Queens Square.

We’re looking for someone with a minimum of five GCSE’s (including Maths and English), and experience of using Microsoft Office packages would also be helpful.

It’s important to understand that this isn’t a typical ICT role, this is a customer-focused position with loads of interaction, so while decent foundation ICT skills are important, you’ll need enthusiasm, adaptability and excellent communication skills too.

And don’t be thinking that our apprenticeships are entirely classroom based…you’ll get hands-on experience of giving ICT support – after all, this is the best way to learn 🙂

It’s an opportunity to enhance your skills and get valuable hands-on experience, whilst getting a paid salary to do so 🙂

You’ll also complete a BTEC level 2 and 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals.

Plus, our apprentices are treated like all our other employees, with a contract of employment and holiday leave.

Interested?

If you think you’ve got what it takes, the next step is to apply – it’s the first part to starting your exciting journey with us 🙂

The closing date is Friday, August 30.
