On Saturday 2 July, Gwyn Evans Leisure & Activity Centre in Gwersyllt hosted their open day which was a fantastic event for all ages. They welcomed everyone from the local community to use their local leisure centre and encouraged them to get active!
Highlights of the day included a free two hour Zumbathon, fitness classes, access to the gym, inflatable football & basketball in the sports hall and two inflatable sessions in the pool. Freedom Leisure’s Mascot Jim Trainer and The King of Desserts himself, Mr Tee even made an appearance much to the kids (and adults!) delight.

Beverley Parry-Jones, Councillor for Bryn Cefn attended and said, “It was a pleasure to visit Gwyn Evans Leisure Centre Open Day, it is wonderful that we have such amazing facilities right on our doorstep that offers so many activities for all age ranges. I was particularly impressed with the gym equipment and have of late taken to an evening dip in the pool.”
As well as the open day, Gwyn Evans took the opportunity to launch their brand new community membership which will allow local residents to use their local facilities at a greatly reduced cost.
Richard Milne, Area Manager for Freedom Leisure in Wrexham said, “It was great to see the success of the open day at Gwyn Evans with the local community attending, making it such a fun day for all. We now have the new community membership for Gwyn Evans which will allow access to swim, gym and exercise classes, something for everyone”
Freedom Leisure in Wrexham operate Gwyn Evans Leisure & Activity Centre in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council are looking forward to open days at their other centres in Waterworld and Chirk later this month.
