Wrexham Council have now demolished the previous Greenacres building of Rhosddu Road to make way for the development of new council housing.

The redevelopment is planned to deliver 58 homes, which could be the Council’s largest council housing development projects. The proposals feature a mix of property types designed to meet the housing needs identified on the housing waiting list.

The Council is committed to delivering affordable homes for future contract holders, helping to meet local demand and increase the availability of affordable housing in Wrexham.

Due to its proximity to the city centre, the site is considered highly suitable for a council-led housing scheme.

The project is now moving into the Pre-Application Community Consultation (PACC) stage. As part of this process, the Council has prepared initial draft proposals and is inviting feedback from the public before a full planning application is submitted.

The consultation, being undertaken by Cadnant Planning, will commence on Monday, 18 May and will remain open for a period of 28 days.

Residents local to the site will shortly receive a letter inviting them to share any comments or feedback they may have on the proposed development. The letter will include full details on how to submit a response.

Feedback is also welcomed from anyone with an interest in the scheme. Comments can be submitted online at https://www.cadnantplanning.co.uk/consultations/rhosddu-road or by emailing PAC@cadnantplanning.co.uk The website provides further information about the proposals, and any additional questions can be directed to the email address above.

You can use any Wrexham Libraries to view this information online, if you don’t have the facilities to at home.

Feedback gathered during the consultation forms an important part of the process and will be carefully considered as the project moves forward. All comments received will help shape the final proposals, ensuring the development reflects local priorities and addresses any concerns raised by the community.

Once the consultation period has closed and all responses have been reviewed, the Council intends to prepare and submit a full planning application for the scheme. The feedback provided will play a key role in informing this submission and guiding the next stages of the project.

Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for Housing and Climate Change “This is an important proposal that could deliver much‑needed, high‑quality council homes in Wrexham. The Rhosddu Road site would offer an opportunity to create sustainable, affordable housing close to the city centre.

We’re now asking residents to share their views and all feedback will be considered before any final proposals are taken forward.”
