Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Having monthly garden waste collections in December, January and February allowed us to free up staff to deal with problematic issues caused by the winter, such as gritting routes or general maintenance.

“But as we move towards Spring, hopefully it will start to get a little warmer and residents will be able to make use of their green bin(s) more often, so these collections are going to switch back to fortnightly from March onwards.”

Work in social care and be the lifeline your community needs.

Not signed up for 2021/22 but now want to?

If you didn’t sign up for the garden waste collection service previously, but would now like us to collect your green bin(s) over spring and into summer, it’s not too late to sign up.

It costs £25 per bin, with our current service running until September 2, 2022, so you could still get 6 months’ worth of collections if you sign up soon.

You can sign up by visiting www.wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste which is the quickest and most convenient way. Alternatively, you can call 01978 298989 although you may experience a wait if you do so.

Service charge frozen until September 2023

The cost of the garden waste collection service has been frozen at £25 per green bin per year for the next service year (September 2022-August 2023).

Cllr Bithell added: “We’re pleased to be able to freeze the cost of the service until September 2023. The £25 per green bin per year charge will keep the cost of the Wrexham service one of the lowest in England and Wales.”

We expect renewals for the Sept 2022-August 2023 service to open in the summer. Please don’t attempt to renew before we provide you with these details.

Get bin reminder alerts

You can keep an eye on when to put your garden waste bins out by signing up for our bin reminder alerts. You’ll get an email alert the day before they’re due to be collected to remind you. If you already receive these alerts, there’s no need for you to change anything.

Alternatively, you can download and print our up-to-date bin calendars.

Not sure if you’re calendar 1 or calendar 2? No problem, just add your postcode or street name here to find out which collection calendar you are.

Make sure you’re receiving the correct alerts

Is the person who puts the bins out for your house set up to receive the correct alerts from us? If their email address isn’t the one that was used when you signed up for the garden waste collection service, all you need to do is complete our simple check your bin day form.

You only need to enter your postcode, address and email address and hit submit, doing this will automatically update our email reminder system and ensure you get the correct reminder.

If you’re looking for a new career and want to help people in your community, a job in social care could be the right move.
