Some of you may have seen our social media posts from August 11 about getting free caddy liners…they’ve certainly had a lot of interaction.

We’ve been giving out the free liners for several months, but it seems there’s still a large number of people in Wrexham that don’t know this.

Therefore, we’re going to run through how you can get the free liners, but also give a reminder on how to order a new food caddy and get other replacement recycling bags/boxes you need.

Tie an empty liner to my caddy

The easiest way to get free caddy liners from us is by tying an empty liner to your food caddy handle on your collection day, as shown in the picture.

Running low on caddy liners? Tie an empty liner to your caddy handle on your collection day and we’ll leave you a new roll. Simple as that! #wrexham #recycling pic.twitter.com/TDv76FZ3x7

All our recycling wagons carry the free caddy liners, so if you tie an empty liner to your caddy handle, you shouldn’t be missed out. We’ve reminded our recycling crews to make sure they carry them and we apologise to anyone that we’ve missed out in the past.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said, “By tying an empty liner to your caddy handle on your collection day, you’re letting our recycling crews know you’re running low on caddy liners. It’s really important to do this, as when they collect your food waste, they’ll see the empty liner and leave you a new roll.

“Whilst some people are taking advantage of this, it appears there’s still a number of us in Wrexham don’t know that we give out free caddy liners, but it’s part of our commitment to encouraging people to recycle food waste.”

Our recycling centres

You can also pick up free caddy liners from any of our three recycling centres in Wrexham. Just speak to one of our attendants and ask them for another roll 🙂

Ordering a new caddy

You can request a new food caddy on our website, where you can also order new recycling boxes. Alternatively, you can call the Contact Centre for these on 01978 298989.

If you need a new blue recycling bag, please ask your recycling crew on your next collection day. You can also collect one from a number of shops in Wrexham. Follow this link to see the full list of shops that have them.

As always, thanks for recycling and doing your bit for Wrexham 🙂
