Residents are now able to renew their garden waste collections to cover the period April 1, 2025 until March 31, 2026.
Renewals for the next service year are now open, so you can visit wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste to make your payment online. It’s the quickest and easiest way, and you get to do it at a time that suits you. Just make sure you’re signed up in plenty of time to avoid missing any collections when the service begins in April.
The charge for 2025/26 has been held at £35 per green bin per year, and the service runs from Tuesday April 1, 2025 until Tuesday March 31, 2026. We will continue to review the service in the future.
Cllr Terry Evans, Lead Member for Environment, said: “We are pleased to confirm the price for the garden waste collection service for 2025/26 will remain at £35. This keeps us as one of the lowest and most economically priced local authorities in England and Wales for our garden waste service. I would encourage everyone to take advantage and subscribe to this terrific collection service ready for Spring/Summer.”
Free month March 2025
By starting the next service year in April, it means our subscribers to the current garden waste service will benefit from an extra months’ worth of collections for free.
The current service was set to expire February 28, but this has been further extended. If you’re signed up to the current garden waste collection service, your green bin(s) will now continue to be collected until March 31, 2025.
Please pay online where possible
The easiest way to pay for the service is online at wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
Any residents who would like a bit of support to make an online payment can visit Contact Wrexham based in Wrexham Library, or you can drop into your local housing estate office. Just let our staff know you want to pay for your garden waste collections and they will be able to help you through the process, they can even help to set you up with an email address if you don’t have one.
A friend or relative can subscribe online on your behalf.
You must have an email address to subscribe online. If you don’t have one you can call Streetscene on 01978 298989 to make a card payment.
No bin stickers
This year we won’t be sending out bin stickers as part of the garden waste collection service. Instead we will be using our logistical system to identify properties that have paid for the latest service. We recommend for you to display your house name or number on your green bin to make it easier for us to match your bin against the details on our system.
Terms and conditions
In previous years we’ve sent out the terms and conditions of the garden waste service as part of your bin sticker pack. As we no longer send out bin stickers, we won’t be sending out physical copies of the terms and conditions.
Instead you will be able to view these online, or if you prefer you can pick up a physical copy in person from Contact Wrexham.
I have a current subscription are you collecting my March garden waste?
If you’re signed up to the current garden waste collection service, your green bin(s) will continue to be collected until March 31, 2025.
I don’t want to renew the service – will you remove my garden waste bin?
Any unwanted garden waste bins can be removed on request. Once requested it may take a number of weeks for the bin to be collected. In the meantime, make sure your bin remains empty, accessible, but not left out causing an obstruction.
It may be worth keeping hold of your old garden waste bin for now because, if your garden waste bin has been removed and you change your mind in future, there is a charge for a new one.
What can I do with my garden waste if I do not want to pay for the collection service?
You can take your garden waste to one of the household waste recycling centres (free of charge). Alternatively, you could compost garden waste at home. Take a look at Wales Recycles’ ‘how to set up home composting’ guide which has some useful information.
