Update 3.30pm – bins and recycling

Content
GrittingBins and recyclingSchool closuresReporting issuesReporting homelessness

Following disruptions to collections, next week we intend to collect general waste, recycling and food waste from all households in Wrexham.

Please take your bins and recycling boxes back inside for now and put them out again ready for your usual collection day next week.

We can accept extra recycling provided it’s presented correctly (details on how to do this here). Please don’t leave bags of general waste next to bins as we are unable to take these. The recycling centres are open as usual if you need to use them, but please take caution and only travel if conditions allow.

Update 8.56am

Tŷ Pawb will be open from 9am. The car park will be open from 9.30am after it has been cleared of snow.

Update 7.43am

Today’s school closures listed on our website.

Weather warning

Gritting

From 4pm, gritting will run right the way through for the next 24 hours at least.

Details of priority routes can be found online.

However, we encourage drivers to take extra care and only make essential journeys.

Bins and recycling

Bin collections for tomorrow (Friday) have been suspended due to the difficult conditions forecast.

If you’ve already received an automated email asking you to put out your bins / recycling tomorrow, please ignore this.

However, we intend to provide full collections next week including black bins and recycling for all properties (weather dependant).

School closures

You can check if your child’s school is open on the council website.

Reporting issues

You can report any urgent issues (storm damage, fallen trees etc) to the council on the following numbers:

  • (24hrs) 01978 298989
  • Housing repairs for council tenants (24hrs) 01978 298993. You can also email wrexhamemergency@deltawellbeing.org.uk for out of hours only.

Please only phone if it’s urgent – for other issues, please help us by reporting issues online:

  • General issues
  • Housing repairs

Any issues with power-outages can be reported by calling 105 (Powercut 105 is a free service that will put you through to your local network operator for help and support).

Remember that if there’s an immediate threat to life during any adverse weather event, you should always call 999.

Reporting homelessness

If you’re homeless or worried about becoming homeless, you can call our Housing Options team on 01978 292947 anytime.

You can use the StreetLink website or StreetLink mobile app to send an alert about someone sleeping rough that you’re concerned about.

Providing as much detail as possible gives the outreach team in the Wrexham area a better chance to locate the person and offer support.

We can always offer advice and will try to provide further assistance wherever possible.
