Aberystwyth Arts Centre and FOCUS Wales announce the inaugural edition of a unique festival of audio visual exploration – Trawsnewid : Transform – which will take place in Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Wales, across the 2nd & 3rd February 2024.

Now in its 50th anniversary decade, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the venue which will play host to Trawsnewid : Transform, is an iconic, brutalist building, overlooking the beautiful Victorian seafront and university town. The buildings’ architecture and unique surroundings lends itself naturally to the event, which will combine the best in new music, with visuals, and language.

Aberystwyth Arts Centre and FOCUS Wales have invited a selection of Wales’ leading artists to perform at this first edition of the festival, to create unique audio visual experiences, which will showcase the venue, the region, and of course the artists, in a special setting. The festival team are working with local artists and promoters across the region, creating a new opportunity for creatives to develop their work by collaborating with the arts centre and FOCUS Wales on this special event.

Headlining the festival are Mercury Prize nominee Gwenno, and one of Wales’ most illustrious musicians, and frontman of Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys. Elsewhere, the lineup highlights the broad range of high quality music coming out of Wales across multiple genres, and will include Adwaith, Gallops, Cerys Hafana, Sage Todz, HMS Morris, Skunkadelic, Eadyth, Ynys, The Family Battenberg, Worldcub, and many more.

Deputy Director of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Louise Amery said “We’re really pleased to be working with our friends at FOCUS Wales to present the very first Trawsnewid festival in February 2024.  We’re looking forward to a real celebration of vision and sound over the weekend as an amazing line-up of musicians and artists from across Wales assemble in Aberystwyth to ‘take over’ the Arts Centre. It’s going to be fantastic!”
