Founded by radio presenter Huw Stephens, Dydd Miwsig Cymru is an annual, national celebration of the vibrant world of Welsh language music.

Every February, special gigs and events take place across the country, showcasing Welsh music of all genres.

This year’s event is set to be the biggest Dydd Miwsig Cymru Tŷ Pawb has ever hosted!

There will also be live music events taking place in the city centre – at the Magic Dragon and Saith Seren. See the programme below for full details.

Here’s the full programme:

Thursday 12th February

A live music performance with Yasmine Latkowski (Panedeni), Ayoub Boukhalfa (One World Oasis Choir) and SERA, exploring home and belonging through Arabic and Welsh traditions.

You’ll hear specialist instrumentalists from Arabic and Welsh traditions, rich vocal harmonies, rhythm, and storytelling — and gain insight into the histories, sounds and personal journeys behind the music.

Bar and food court open!

The event is free to attend but booking is advised to guarantee a seat –

Friday 13th February

LIVE MUSIC with Candelas
Doors: 5.30pm

This special, family friendly gig featuring one of North Wales top rock bands has been organised by Menter Iaith, with support from Ysgol Morgan Llwyd’s ‘Y Sîn ar y Ffin’ group.

Y Sîn ar y Ffin’ is a Menter Iaith project, supported by Arts Council Wales and Wrexham Council, with the aim of introducing children in the Wrexham area to Welsh music, and giving them the chance to see some of the country’s top bands.

Candelas already have a few fans in Wrexham, having gone down a storm at the Wrexham AFC fanzone recently!

This is a family-friendly gig, however all ages are welcome!

Bar and food court will be open.

No need to book – just turn up!

LIVE FA CUP 4th ROUND: Wrexham v Ipswich
KO: 7.45pm

Straight after the Candelas gig on Friday evening, we’ll be bringing the big screen down so you can enjoy Wrexham’s much anticipated FA Cup game LIVE right here at Tŷ Pawb!

A celebration of Welsh language and culture everyone can enjoy!

Wrexham Council’s Lead Member with responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, Cllr Hugh Jones, said: “Tŷ Pawb has proudly showcased Welsh arts and music since day one and we are delighted to continue our long running partnership with the multi-award winning, FOCUS Wales to celebrate this year’s Dydd Miwsig Cymru.

“Hosting the brilliant National Eisteddfod here last summer has given Wrexham new ideas, energy and confidence to champion Welsh language and culture. As a result, this February’s event will be the biggest Dydd Miwisg Cymru Wrexham has ever hosted and is part of a wider legacy we are creating, building on the success of the Eisteddfod and the new audiences and partnerships we’ve been able to develop.

“This is set to be a hugely enjoyable three days for all ages. Whether you’re a lifelong Welsh music fan, or you just want to come and enjoy the atmosphere and festivities, I would encourage everyone to come and make the most of these free events.”
