A winter coat appeal ran by the Wellbeing Hub in Wrexham has helped 156 children stay warm through the colder months.
The appeal, which ran from winter 2025 through to May 2026, encouraged donations from the public to support families who were struggling with the cost of living and unable to afford warm coats for their children.
Thanks to the generosity of local people, the Wellbeing Hub received a fantastic response, helping to make sure children had suitable coats for school, play and everyday life.
Part way through the appeal, Steve and Georgina from Unite Community NE Wales also visited the Wellbeing Hub and donated £700 towards the scheme.
This funding allowed the hub to purchase additional new coats, which were then distributed to families through third sector organizations, local schools and council services, including the Family Information Service.
The impact of the appeal has been clear from the feedback received from families.
One parent said the coat had “kept my children warm” and meant there was “more money for food to feed them.”
Another said “Could not afford a coat. My child will go to school warm now.”
Other feedback highlighted the difference a warm coat can make beyond just the school run, with one family explaining that their little boy loved his dinosaur coat and could now go out to the park to play.
