Wrecsam2029, the team leading Wrexham’s bid for UK City of Culture 2029, has sponsored this year’s Christmas tree in Queens Square, adding a standout festive feature to the heart of the Wrexham’s city centre.
The tree was officially lit last Saturday, as a part of Wrexham’s Christmas Lights Switch On, marking its arrival as a centrepiece of the city’s seasonal celebrations.
Morgan Thomas, Bid Coordinator for Wrecsam2029, said: “Supporting the Christmas tree felt like a natural way for us to give something back to the city. Queens Square is a place where people come together, and seeing families gather around the tree already has been really special. That sense of community is exactly what we want to celebrate through the 2029 bid.”
Leader of Wrexham Council, Cllr Mark Pritchard said: “It’s great to see Wrecsam2029 getting involved in something that means so much to local people. The tree brings real warmth to the centre of Wrexham, and their support shows how committed they are to the city and its future. It’s a simple gesture that makes a big difference to the atmosphere at this time of year.”
Cllr Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, said, “The Christmas tree always brings life into Queens Square, and this year’s looks fantastic. We really appreciate Wrecsam2029 stepping in to sponsor it. Little moments like this, where organisations pitch in to make Wrexham feel welcoming and vibrant, are a big part of what makes Wrexham so special.”
