Work on Wrexham Council’s first Modern Method of Construction housing development is progressing well and is another step closer to completion.
The project, which aims to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient housing, will feature a two-storey apartment block consisting of six one-bedroom apartments, ideal for single occupancy or couples.
These homes are now nearing completion, with the targeted completion date set for the end of May.
Key milestones have already been achieved, including the installation of windows and doors, with patio doors on the ground floor allowing easy access to outdoor spaces.

Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) offer significant environmental benefits, reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional construction processes. Beyond the construction phase, MMC incorporates innovative technologies and structures that ensure continued energy efficiency for residents.
As part of the council’s commitment to sustainability, PV panels have been installed on the roof. These panels generate renewable energy from sunlight, reducing carbon emissions and contributing to more sustainable living.
Other benefits of PV panel installation include potentially lower energy bills for residents and a reduced environmental footprint.
Looking ahead, the next phase includes the installation of EV (electric vehicle) charging points within the exterior grounds of the property. This initiative represents another forward step in promoting sustainability.
Electric cars help reduce emissions and improve air quality, contributing to better public health. By integrating charging stations into these new council properties, Wrexham Council provides convenience for EV owners and encourages more people to transition to greener transport options, where possible.
The exterior render has been completed, dramatically enhancing the appearance of the properties. With the scaffolding now removed, the focus shifts to internal works.

Inside, preparations for plastering have been completed, and plastering work is currently underway, bringing significant visual improvements to the property’s interiors.
Initial phases of joinery and plumbing have been finalised, including electrical wiring installation and the setup of hot and cold water systems, preparing the apartments for future residential use.
Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for Housing and Climate Change, said, “We are pleased to see the building now coming together. It will provide six newly homes for single occupancy or couples, contributing to Wrexham’s commitment to providing high-quality, energy efficient housing options.”
