Freedom Leisure, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit leisure trusts that manages Wrexham Waterworld on behalf of Wrexham Council, is proud to announce that it has been named a finalist in the prestigious UK Active Awards 2024.

The team at Waterworld has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Regional Centre of the Year’ category and this recognition underscores the commitment to excellence and innovation in the health and fitness industry by the staff at Waterworld.

The UK Active Awards celebrate organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the nation’s leisure industry sector. Being shortlisted as a finalist is a testament to Freedom Leisure’s dedication to providing high-quality services and fostering a community-centric approach to health and wellbeing.

Wrexham Waterworld offers a wide range of services

“We are incredibly honoured to be recognised as a finalist in the UK Active Awards 2024,” said Ivan Horsfall Turner, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Leisure. “This nomination reflects the hard work and passion of our entire team, who are committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve.”

Wrexham Waterworld offers a wide range of services including fitness classes, swimming and wellness programmes. Their mission is to improve lives through leisure, ensuring that their facilities are accessible, welcoming and supportive environments for all.

The UK Active Awards ceremony will take place on 3 October, 2024, in Birmingham, where winners will be announced across various categories. Freedom Leisure has also been shortlisted in a further four categories in this year’s awards and is excited to join other industry leaders in celebrating the achievements and innovations that drive the physical activity sector forward.
