Cllr John Pritchard, our new Lead Member for Youth Services and Anti-Poverty has been getting to grips with his new portfolio and meeting staff and touring facilities throughout the county borough.
He took up the new role in December and has visited leisure facilities including Waterworld and Chirk and intends to visit them all in the coming weeks, including the dual use facilities at Clywedog, Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, Rhosnesni High, Darland and Ysgol Ruabon.
Visiting Waterworld was particularly interesting for Cllr Pritchard as he recalls working on the electrical system when it was built 50 years ago this year.
He said: “It’s hard to believe that it’s been 50 years since I was first involved with this building. It was a fantastic place then and it still is. Its facilities are of a very high standard and I know it is very well used by residents of all ages.”
As well as Leisure, his role as Lead Member also includes Libraries, Youth Justice Service, Youth Service, Play Provision and Equality and Diversity.
He added: “It’s a very interesting and challenging portfolio and I’ll be visiting more facilities and meeting with staff over the coming weeks.”
