60 Plus Offer: Active Leisure Scheme

2 Weeks of activities FREE of charge followed by 14 weeks at only £3 per session. Starting April 2022 – 31 March 31, 2023

Following on from our successful Active Leisure Scheme last year, we are now offering NEW participants an opportunity to get active to help boost physical and mental health.

The Active Wrexham Team have been given a grant by Sports Wales as part of the Healthy Weight Healthy Wales Action Plan. The 60+ sessions will enable the 60 Plus population in Wales to live longer, better and happier lives by improving their physical activity levels, confidence, strength and balance.

We’ll be working with Freedom Leisure and Plas Madoc Leisure Centre we’re all committed to ensure our senior population in Wrexham maintain a healthier lifestyle. We have a fantastic selection of activities and sessions available.

The first 2 Weeks of activities will be FREE of charge and for the following 14 weeks you can participate for a cost of £3 per session.

You will only be able to access the sessions listed below at this price – if you wish to access any other sessions/activities that the Leisure Centres offer, please ask reception for more details on cost.

Please e mail Active60@wrexham.gov.uk if you are interested in joining the Active 60+ scheme. We will then send you a link to register.

Once you have registered you can visit reception at any Freedom Leisure Centre listed below and they will issue you with a membership card. You can access all the sessions below across all Freedom Leisure sites in Wrexham.

Plas Madoc Participants will need to visit PMLC reception after registering, you will then be able to access the sessions listed below at PMLC only.

We have a variety of activity sessions for you to try.

You don’t need to have any experience in exercise to join, our team will lead you through the sessions.

  • Lower risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Lower risk of type 2 diabetes, some cancers, depression and dementia
