This upcoming performance at Tŷ Pawb, working together with local music promotion collective, House of Lux, promises to be something really special.

We are delighted to announce that acclaimed American singer/songwriter, John Murry will be joining us for what promises to be an unforgettable evening.

A unique and fascinating performer

If you’re not familiar with John’s work, his career got off to a flyer with his debut record, The Graceless Age, described as the “album of a lifetime” when it was released in 2012.

The album was listed by Uncut as one of the 10 best records of 2012. Mojo also included it in their 10 best albums of 2013, as well as The Guardian in their Top 50 of 2013 and American Songwriter in their Top 5 of 2013.

An extraordinary work of breathtaking scope and ambition, it came from nowhere and seemed to have set up John Murry as a major artist.

This early success was followed by an eventful and often tragic period in his life.

After a huge personal journey, John finally released his second full-length album in June of this year.

This new album, A Short History Of Decay, is an inspired and intensely personal document of an artist’s fall from grace.

The Quietus describe the new album as: “Pure Americana: music rooted in the tradition of folk, country, blues and rock, drawing on a heritage and culture familiar through nearly 100 years of film and music. It’s also the Southern Gothic novel Murry might have written had he followed his family’s path.”

His performance at Tŷ Pawb is part of a UK wide tour taking place over 2018.

An impressive line up of support acts

John Murry will be joined by two other fantastic acts.

Benjamin Folke Thomas is a London based singer/songwriter with some pretty impressive accolades:

“The missing link between Ingmar Bergman and Johnny Cash” – Uncut
“Some of the best guitar playing you’re ever likely to hear” – Q Magazine
“Stands out like Oliver Reed at an AA-meeting” – The Observer

Also on the bill will be Glove – a sonic and soul collaboration between artists Slosilver and Stephanie Finegan.

Glove have been described as “…oozing art, poetry and a musical brilliance that sets your mind racing and your heart pounding. They are dancing on the bones of rock and roll. Glove are the here and now. Glove are the future.” – Louder Than War.

Don’t miss this amazing night

  • John Murry and guests will be performing at Tŷ Pawb on Saturday September 15.
  • Doors open at 6.30pm
  • Tickets are £12 each. Seating is limited so booking is highly recommended.
