  • An exhibition showcasing Welsh history and folklore

The Museum’s ‘Land Of Legends‘ exhibition invites visitors to set off on a quest to rediscover the magic of the Mabinogion, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table!

It features books, paintings, drawings, animation and costumes based on the mythical world of Welsh legends.

As part of the exhibition, students from Glyndŵr were tasked with the job of making a series of animations to bring the exhibition to life.

The completed animations are now being played from the depths of an enormous cauldron at the Museum!

“A very positive experience for students”

Abigail Moore, 20, created an animation titled Angelyston, Megan Anthony, 19, created her animation inspired by Sword in the Stone while Julia Bransby, 19, created The Afanc.

Marta Madrid Manrique, Lecturer in Animation, School of Creative Arts, Wrexham Glyndŵr University, said: “Participating in the Wrexham Museum exhibition has proved a very positive experience for our students considering that they are showcasing their first final film of the first year of the Animation programme.

“It is an excellent opportunity for future professional animators to commit to finish a project within a deadline and to take on the responsibility of being part of a public event.

“Students have been very motivated and have made the theme of Myths and Legends their own in each of the films produced within the final module of level 4. This opportunity makes a difference in their first year experience in the Animation Degree at the School of Creative Arts.”

“The land of Legends exhibition features exhibits which are many hundreds of years old and an integral part of Welsh history.

“The animations help explain some of our most famous legends in a fresh and engaging way way which will help bring these myths and stories to new audiences. I would urge everyone to take the opportunity to go and take a look at this fascinating exhibition.”

The Land of Legends exhibition runs at the Museum until November 3. Why not pop down and see the animations for yourself!
