Wrexham Playday

Ten years on and Playday is still going strong in Wrexham…when children relish taking over the town centre 🙂

Wrexham will be celebrating National Playday on Wednesday, August 2, 12noon-4pm on Queens Square and Llwyn Isaf, with the usual favourites including the giant sandpit, mass water fight, junk play and rope swings.

The event recognises the benefits of play, and highlights the need for children across the county borough to have time, space and permission to play.

The event is free and for people of all ages – including babies and toddlers, older children, teenagers, parents, professionals and grandparents.

“…be prepared to get wet and messy!”

Cllr Paul Rogers, Lead Member for Youth Services and Anti Poverty, said: “I’m delighted the council is supporting this year’s National Playday.

“It’s the one day of the year when children and young people get to take over the town centre and have a lot of fun in the process!

“If you’re in town on August 2 be prepared to get wet and messy and join in the activities.

“I’ll be attending and would like to thank staff and organisations supporting the event for their hard work and commitment.”

Free parking

Around 3,000 people visited the event last year and we hope this year will be even bigger and better. But this will only happen if people come along and join in the fun!

All we ask is that you come in a playful mood and some clothes you don’t mind getting wet and messy.

To support this popular event, the council is also offering free parking in all of its town centre car parks.
