Executive Board today approved two consultations to reduce the published admission numbers at two Wrexham primary schools.
From November 3, 2026, residents will be able to have their say on reducing the number of children admitted into the reception years of St. Peter’s CIW Primary School, Rossett, and Rhosddu School.
St. Peter’s and Rhosddu schools have requested that these consultations were carried out for their schools and, should the decision be made to reduce the number, they will join several other primary schools in the county borough that have done the same.
Councillor Phil Wynn, lead member for education, said: “Across Wrexham, and the UK as whole, the demand for primary school places has decreased and is projected to decrease further in the coming years. By taking action now, both Rhosddu and St. Peter’s primary schools are limiting the impact of this change on the schools and ultimately improving standards of education, which will benefit all pupils in the area.”
These consultations will be launched on November 3 and will be open until December 17, 2026.
The team will be available to answer any questions you may have on the proposals, in-person, on the following dates:
St Peter’s
Monday, November 9 from 8.30am until 9.30am
Tuesday, November 10 from 2.45pm until 3.45pm
Rhosddu CP
Wednesday, November 11 from 8.30am until 9.30am
Thursday, November 12 from 2.45pm until 3.45pm
