Wrexham County Borough Council have two vacancies for their foster panel central list.

Make sure you know about changes to Covid-19 restrictions in Wales

Fostering panels provide a valuable independent role in considering applications for approval as foster carers and make recommendations on applicants’ suitability to be approved as registered foster carers with Wrexham County Borough Council.

Panel members are integral in considering detailed information and assessments in relation to perspective foster carers and their families who wish to care for the children and young people of Wrexham. In addition panel members review the suitability of registration and continued approval of existing foster carers, and provide feedback to Wrexham County Borough Council fostering services as part of their quality assurance role.

The foster panel central list is an important responsibility, and to assist with the role panel members are supported by legal and medical professional’s advice.

To be eligible as an independent panel member you cannot be an existing Wrexham Borough Council foster carer; related to an employee of the fostering service or to any person concerned in managing the service.   You will have relevant experience or understanding of the needs of children and young people and the qualities and attributes required of a foster carer.  You may have experience of being a child looked after, or have experience of fostering in some capacity either personally or professionally.

We will provide training for the role that will include induction and ongoing support and learning opportunities. For independent members there is remuneration for time and expenses incurred in supporting the panel.

Wrexham County Borough Council are developing and this is an exciting time to be part of the journey and assist in continual growth and safeguarding for children and young people of Wrexham.

If you would like an informal discussion please contact Zoe Brennan, 01978 295310/295329.  Zoe.brennan@wrexham.gov.uk
