A friendship group run by local people with disabilities is going from strength to strength – and looking for new members to get involved!

The Wrexham Friendship Hub meets every Wednesday between 12pm and 3pm at Yellow and Blue in Eagles Meadow.

The hub is a great place to make new friends, have a chat and a cuppa, and enjoy lots of fun activities – ranging from indoor bowling and trips to the cinema, to watching football matches and going to the pub!

Group member Peter said: “If you’d like to join us, please come along to one of our weekly meet-ups at Yellow and Blue. We’re a friendly group and you’ll be made to feel very welcome.

“We have lots of fun and our Wednesday get-togethers are a great way to make new friends. If you need support, please bring someone along with you.”

Follow the Hub on Facebook

You can also follow the Friendship Hub on Facebook, where members share lots of info about things to do and places to go.

The hub is managed by SWS (Standards of Wrexham Services) – a group of residents with lived experience of disability or illness.

They help social care and health services in Wrexham provide the right support for people with disabilities, without taking away their independence.

Technology drop-in sessions

The group also runs a weekly tech session to help people with learning disabilities get more from the internet.

The sessions are held every Thursday between 1pm and 3pm at the Wellbeing Hub (Crown Buildings) on Chester Street in Wrexham.

There’s no need to make an appointment – just pop-in for a chat.

SWS member Kelly said: “We can help you get to grips with your phone or tablet, highlight useful apps and find you the right training.

“We can also show you lots of other technology that can help with day-to-day living – from smart watches and doorbells to pens that can help you read text on a screen.

“Just pop in to see us one Thursday and we’ll try to help.”
