Thank you for sharing your views on libraries and resource centres

Wrexham Council would like to thank everyone who took part in the recent consultation on the future of its libraries and resource centres.

The council manages 10 branch libraries, a homelink library and a pop up library, and five community resource centres.

But like most local authorities, Wrexham is facing significant financial challenges and it’s getting harder to make ends meet.

As a result, the council is looking to save at least £185,000 from its operating budget for libraries and resource centres.

The consultation asked people to share their views on various options for saving money and delivering these services differently.

Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, Lead Member for Corporate Services, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. It’s so important we understand what people expect from their libraries and resource centres going forward, and we received 994 responses in total.

“We’re now analysing all of the data and looking into the suggestions and ideas that people have put forward. This will take time, so please bear with us.

“Once we’ve confirmed the options available, a report will be taken to scrutiny committee and then to Executive Board for a decision.”
