Returning for a 3rd year, there will be a vibrant programme of events to join in with – celebrating the magic of woodlands all around us, funded by the Woodland Trust Emergency Tree Fund.

Running from Saturday 14th to Friday 20th June, this year’s theme is ‘Roots and All’, celebrating every part of a tree – from the underground networks of roots to the treetop canopies. We’ll look at how trees function, as well as how we benefit as humans!

Launch day in the city centre

The week kicks off with a fun-filled launch event, ‘Trees Take Over the City’ on Saturday June 14, at the Llwyn Isaf green (library field) in Wrexham city centre.

You’ll be able to meet the experts from supporting organisations (such as Woodland Trust, Llais y Goedwig, Xplore, Tŷ Pawb and Woodland Classroom), and find out why we love trees so much.

Come along for free activities

Families, nature lovers, and curious minds can enjoy a rich line-up of free activities on the Llwyn Isaf between 1-4pm including:

  • Campfire cooking
  • Interactive story trail
  • Hands-on science experiments
  • Willow weaving and woodcraft workshops
  • Guided nature walks
  • Creative woodland art activities
  • Sensory experiences such as the sounds trees make and the scents of the forest

Each activity is designed to connect people to the extraordinary world of trees — revealing how they grow, communicate and support ecosystems.

“Roots and All is about digging deep — literally and figuratively — to explore every part of what makes trees so vital to our world,” said Jacinta Challinor, Chair of Wrexham Forest Partnership. “Whether it’s discovering the scent of a pine forest or hearing the vibrations within a tree, we want people to connect with woodlands in completely new ways.”

The rest of the week

The celebration will continue throughout the week with community events across the region.

Whether you’re already a tree enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and meaningful way to engage with nature, Woodland Connections Week has something for everyone.

Sign the pledge

If you can’t join any of the events during the week, there is more than one way to show your support for trees and woodlands in Wrexham.

By signing up to the Woodland Pledge you can join our mailing list, where you can find out how to get involved with protecting existing woodland, or planting new trees, in Wrexham.
