The B5605 in Newbridge fully reopened on Saturday, October 4 following the completion of a major engineering project to repair the road.
The road was severely damaged during Storm Christoph in 2021 when part of the riverbank gave way.
Since then, Wrexham Council – supported by Welsh Government – has worked with engineering partners Jones Bros Ltd to painstakingly repair the route, reopening an important link between the communities of Cefn Mawr and Chirk.
This has been a big and complex repair job, and we’d like thank Jones Bros Ltd for their expertise and commitment to the project.
When you drive along the road, everything looks very much the same as it did before, and it’s difficult to see the size and scope of engineering that’s taken place.
But beneath the surface, there’s a huge amount of work that’s taken place and some very complex engineering.
It’s been a big project, and we’re very pleased to see this important road open again.
