A new chapter in Trevor’s rich industrial and cultural history was celebrated last week, with the official opening of the JC Edwards Wall and Public Garden, a landmark heritage and community space on the edge of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site.

The new garden stands on the historic site of the former JC Edwards Brick & Tile Works, once a major local employer where generations of people from Trevor and the surrounding area worked. The project honours that legacy while creating a new attractive and accessible public space for residents and visitors alike.

The opening ceremony took place on Friday 12 December 2025 and was attended by local councillors Sue Kempster and Rondo Roberts, alongside other community councillors, community members and invited guests.

The JC Edwards Wall and Public Garden has been made possible thanks to funding secured through the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund, supporting the sensitive regeneration of this important historic location, enhancing the wider World Heritage Site while providing new opportunities for community use, reflection, and enjoyment.

Speaking at the event, representatives highlighted the importance of preserving Trevor’s industrial heritage and recognising the people who worked at the JC Edwards works, while ensuring the area continues to thrive for future generations.

Local community Councillor, Sue Kempster helped coordinate the project and said “Thank you to Wrexham council for including our community project when they applied for UK government funding”.

The new garden adds to the ongoing investment within the wider Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site, following a feasibility study funded by the Clwydian Range National Landscape team and further helps in reinforcing its status as a place of international significance, local pride, and shared history.

The JC Edwards Wall and Public Garden is now open to the public and will serve as a lasting tribute to Trevor’s industrial past and its vibrant community.
