Some residents will have changes to their usual bin and recycling collections dates over the Easter period, but there are a couple of easy ways you can stay up to date with any revised collections.
Check your bin day
Checking your bin day shows your next four collection dates and which bins and recycling you should put out. You won’t need to sign in to check your bin day, and you can check for friends, family members and neighbours by simply typing in their postcode or street.
It’s a quick and easy way to stay of top of your collections.
Bin reminder emails
Another way you can stay up to date is by signing up to receive our bin reminder emails. If you do this, you’ll get an email to remind you to put your bins out the day before your collection is due. It’s a good way for us to let you know about any changes that affect you as well.
Quick overview of the changes
Here’s a quick summary…
There are no collections taking place on:
- Friday April 3 (Good Friday)
- Monday April 6 (Easter Monday)
Which means:
- If you were due to have a recycling collection on Friday, April 3, you can put out extra recycling for us to collect on Friday, April 10 instead.
- If you were due to have a black/blue bin and recycling collection on Friday, April 3, your black/blue bins will be collected on Tuesday, April 7 instead, and you can put out any extra recycling for us to collect on Friday, April 10.
- If you were due to have a black/blue bin and recycling collection on Monday, April 6, your black/blue bins and any extra recycling will be collected on Monday, April 13 instead.
- If you were due to have a recycling collection on Monday, April 6, you can put out extra recycling for us to collect on Monday, April 13 instead.
Garden waste collections
Collections follow a seasonal pattern, with April and May running to an adjusted timetable due to bank holidays. You can stay on top of when your garden waste will be collected by checking your bin day or signing up to receive our bin reminder emails.
Garden waste collections will return to the pattern you are more familiar with from June.
Extra recycling rules reminder
If your recycling boxes get full, you can leave any extra recyclables in solid containers next to your other recycling on your collection day and we’ll recycle the materials (leaving the containers behind for you to reuse again).
But if you do have extra recycling, please separate the materials as you usually would…for example, if you have extra plastic bottles and glass, please put the plastic in one container and the glass in a separate container.
Also, we will collect clean, flattened cardboard left by recycling containers if it is no larger in height or width than a standard issue blue sack.
Recycling centres
Don’t forget, the recycling centres will remain open over Easter if you need to use them.
Plus, from Monday April 6, The Lodge, Brymbo and Plas Madoc will stay open later, closing at 8pm.
There are no changes to Bryn Lane which remains open 8am-8pm all year round.
