Popular visitor attraction, Waterworld in Wrexham, which is operated by Freedom Leisure were delighted to host a ‘Family Fun Day’ on 24th February that raised much needed funds for a very worthwhile UK charity.
Customers and colleagues came together for an action-packed day of activities which began with a ‘Duck Race’! 100 ducks began the speedy descent of Waterworld’s 65-metre waterslide with duck number 5 being crowned ‘Champion Duck’!
Other family activities enjoyed by the many hundreds of people that attended on the day included a ‘Coffee Morning’ and a ‘Splash-a-thon’ which incorporated lots of fun activities in the water.
Customers were also asked to donate their locker money and donations came in throughout the day with a grand total of £306.37 raised for the British Heart Foundation as they continue their research into heart and circulatory diseases.
Throughout the month of February, Waterworld has been supporting the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Heart Month’, encouraging customers and staff to ‘wear something red’ and children have been adding a splash of colour to the café and reception area with their artwork following the introduction of an extremely popular colouring competition which is all on display at Waterworld.
Felicity Griffiths, General Manager for Waterworld said: “We thoroughly enjoyed participating in Heart Month for the British Heart Foundation. The ducks caused a splash riding the flume and diving into the river rapids. It was also lovely to receive and display messages of love in the reception windows for everyone to read. We are pleased to have raised vital funds for British Heart Foundation through donations and our coffee morning.”
Swim Wales Partnerships & Participation Manager, Victoria Waters, said: “All of us at Swim Wales would like to say a huge congratulations to the Waterworld Wrexham team and everyone who took part in their fundraising activities. We have proudly partnered with the British Heart Foundation this month for the Swim 60 Challenge, so we are delighted to see our partners Freedom Leisure allowing the community to come together, be aquatically active and raise vital funds for the BHF.”
