As you probably know, most of the UK is expecting wintery weather this weekend, with some potential snow, frozen rain and icy conditions forecast.

If ‘frozen rain’ occurs there will be ‘black ice’ on surfaces. This is extremely hard to predict, freezes clear and is especially hazardous for pedestrians.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather and our gritting teams will be out treating surfaces where appropriate.

Bin collections

For this week additional recycling will be taken if in suitable containers.

Due to the high volume of waste we are collecting, we are having to finish some rounds ahead of collecting all the recycling and waste. Rest assured after emptying our collection  (or recycling and refuse) trucks we will return to collect the remainder (please ensure that recycling is secure from the wind).

As January 1 was a bank holiday, recycling and refuse pick-ups for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are a day later this week. So if you usually have a pick up on Friday, this will be on Saturday this week.

Should the weather impact this we’ll give as much advanced notice as we can. You can check your bin collection date on our website.

Reporting issues

We’ll keep you informed about any changes to council services via social media and this news blog.

In the meantime, here’s a reminder about how to report issues…

You can report any urgent issues (fallen trees etc) to the council on the following numbers:

  • (24hrs) 01978 298989
  • Housing repairs for council tenants (24hrs) 01978 298993. You can also email wrexhamemergency@deltawellbeing.org.uk for out of hours only.

Please only phone if it’s urgent – for other issues, please help us by reporting issues online:

  • General issues
  • Housing repairs

Any issues with power-outages can be reported by calling 105 (Powercut 105 is a free service that will put you through to your local network operator for help and support).

Remember that if there’s an immediate threat to life during any adverse weather event, you should always call 999.
