Siop/Shop is a unique in house gallery shop selling a wide selection of contemporary products from independent makers and artists. The unique products for people to enjoy range from stunning jewellery made from North Walian Angela Evans and local Wrexham jewellery maker Sam Belsham to textiles and design, homewares alongside an eclectic selection of greeting cards, magazines and books.

Siop/Shop also encourages emerging artists through their “mentor the maker” scheme, which promotes established practitioners from Wales and beyond. A few names from the past that have seen the benefits of this scheme are Sara Lois, Sondergard, Ark, Jennie Jackson, Tatty Devine, Jenny Murray, Melin Tregwynt and Angie Lewin.

“Complements all things that Tŷ Pawb offers”

Since opening Siop/Shop has commissioned six artists to celebrate Wrexham including the launch of Tŷ Pawb itself just over 12 months ago. They also arrange for opportunities to meet the artists themselves at the “meet the makers” events that accompany exhibitions.

Siop/Shop “complements all things that Tŷ Pawb has to offer and an excellent example of this is the former Hippodrome light which was moved to the South Arcade after being restored. It had previously been an integral part of the former Hippodrome Theatre and was rescued by Wrexham History group.

Designer Tim Denton worked through the Designer Maker Project – a collaboration between Tŷ Pawb and CAIS through Cyfle Cymru which mentors and gives employment experience for people with experience of substance misuse and mental health conditions – to make a bespoke version of the lamp using contemporary Scandinavian design and steam bending techniques. The lamps are proving very popular and there’s a waiting list for them whilst more are lovingly produced!
