Do you feel like communities have become fragmented? Are there fewer places to meet, mix and build connections?
These feelings have been expressed across the UK, but the people affected most by these changes are often the ones who feel they have no say in what comes next.
The National Conversation wants to change that.
The Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion is asking you to take part in a national listening exercise. This means they want to hear what you think about community life, whether there is anything you’d like to change and how you’d like to see those changes made.
The information and ideas that you provide will be used to put together a report with recommendations to be published at the end of this year.
Cllr Paul Roberts, Lead Member for Involvement, said: “As lifestyles have changed in recent years, the traditional sense of ‘community’ is beginning to be lost. Busy working lives, technology replacing face-to-face interaction and the decline of traditional local gathering spaces have all played a part. A sense of community provides emotional support, a sense of belonging, and reduces feelings of isolation, but what does that look like in the modern world? This is why I encourage you to take part in this survey, to tell us what would restore that sense of community to you, your family and your friends.”
You are able to have your say on how you feel about community life by visiting the Your Voice, National Conversation webpage. You have until the end of August.
