You may well have seen a lot of media coverage about changes to the number of people who receive the winter fuel payment.
Last month, the chancellor announced that winter fuel payments would now only be available to those older people who receive certain means tested benefits.
All of those on pension credit, will continue to receive the annual payments. However, it’s thought that some people eligible for pension credit, don’t claim it.
So if you are over the state pension age, you may be entitled to pension credit, which will mean you are able to continue claiming the winter fuel payment. To find out if you are eligible have a look at the GOV.UK pension credit page.
If you aren’t eligible for pension credit, but are still struggling, you can also access free and confidential advice about money you may be entitled to by calling the Advicelink Cymru helpline on 0808 250 5700.
