We would like to hear from you on the future of our mobile and pop up library service

Book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment online.

Back in autumn 2020 our mobile library was replaced with a Covid-safe ‘pop-up’ service as well as an order and direct delivery service.

The pop-up service involved a temporary library being set up at various venues across the county borough on certain days.

The delivery service allowed people in certain areas to order books to be delivered to their home.

These were introduced to provide safer and more convenient options for local people during the pandemic, and they’ve proved highly popular.

We’re now proposing to continue with the pop-up service in communities with suitable venues, and to offer the order and delivery service to residents who don’t have a branch library that’s accessible by public transport.

As well as offering a safer and more flexible option, we think this proposal will help provide a cleaner, greener service that will cut down on road-miles and carbon emissions in the county borough.

However, it’s really important that we consult with local people first. If you haven’t already done so, please have your say by taking part in our online survey.

Cllr John Pritchard, lead member for people – youth services and anti-poverty, said: ‘COVID has forced us to think of new and creative ways to deliver many of our services. The Pop-Up Library and Order and Direct Delivery services meant that we could take the library service out into more remote communities in a safe way.

‘We would now like to hear what you think about the way this service has been delivered and, if you haven’t used it, we would like to know if it is something you would like to see come to your community.

‘As with all consultations, the more people who give us their thoughts, the more we understand how you feel, so I would encourage as many residents as possible to take part. If anyone has any queries regarding this service, please ask library staff who are available to explain.’

It should take around 10 minutes, and your feedback will be very much appreciated.

The consultation will run until August 27.
