As the cost of living spirals, we are aware that many of our tenants and residents will be struggling to make ends meet.

Wrexham Council’s housing department has teamed up with other agencies and organisations to put together a series of cost of living and wellbeing events across the borough, where tenants will be able to access information from a variety of partner organisations on topics such as energy efficiency, water efficiency and bill reduction, debt advice and financial support.

Help with the cost of living – claim what’s yours, reduce your bills, look after your health.

The Wrexham Communities for Work team will be available to assist people with gaining employment skills, from assisting with cv preparation and interview skills to being able to signpost tenants to vacancies in the area.

Financial Inclusions Officers from the Council’s housing department will be available to assist tenants wherever possible and help them to maximise their income.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Housing said, “The Council, and in particular the housing department, are very conscious of the effect the cost of living crisis is having on our tenants and we are very keen to support our tenants wherever we can. Local estate offices each have a Financial Inclusion Officer based within them, whose role is to help tenants to maximise their income.

“Up to April 2022 they have provided assistance to over 775 tenants and have had a positive effect on both tenants’ financial position and their mental wellbeing. We are keen to promote this service and Financial Inclusion Officers will be available at all the events that have been organised and I would urge anyone who is struggling to either attend one of the events or contact their local housing office.”

Dates, times and locations of the events are:

Monday 7 November 9am – 1pm Brynteg Memorial Hall

Monday 14 November 1pm – 3pm Ty Pawb

Friday 18 November 10am -1pm Gwersyllt Resource Centre

Monday 21 November 1pm – 4pm Johnstown Community Centre

Thursday 24 November 1pm – 3pm Plas Madoc Leisure Centre

Friday 18 November 10am -1pm Gwersyllt Resource Centre

When it comes to the cost of living, making sure you claim all the help and support you’re entitled to could make a huge difference.
