As the school year comes to an end, will you have school uniform that you child no longer needs?
Whether they have finished in their current school or simply grown out of it, but it’s still in good condition, we are asking you to donate it.
Do you have uniform to donate?
There are two ways to donate uniform:
- If your child’s school is participating, you can simply drop it off before the end of the school summer term
- If the school is not taking part or it’s during the school holiday, you can take it to the Wellbeing Hub, Crown Buildings, Wrexham (entrance off Waterworld car park)
What items can be donated?
A range of uniforms from schools across the county borough are needed, including:
- Logo items (blazers, jumpers, cardigans, sweatshirts, PE kits)*
- Trousers (grey or black)
- Skirts (grey or black)
- Pinafores (primary)
*Logo items, especially those for secondary schools, are particularly important so if you have any of these that are no longer needed we would really appreciate your donation.
About to buy school uniform? Stop…
Donated items will be available to everyone in the county borough while stocks last.
You don’t need an appointment and no paperwork is needed. Just come to the reception area in the Wellbeing Hub and staff will be on hand to help find the items you need.
All items will be completely free, stock will be topped up as donations come in, and all items are checked to ensure they are clean and in good condition.
Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for environment, said: “Every year in the UK, around 300,000 tonnes of clothing goes into household bins, and then incinerated or sent to landfill. Neither of which are environmentally friendly or sustainable. This project is the perfect opportunity to reduce clothing waste in Wrexham. If you have school uniform that your children have outgrown, I encourage you to drop it off at their school or, after 20th July, at the Wellbeing Hub.”
Cllr John Pritchard, anti-poverty champion, said: “We are all aware of the rise in the cost of living, so this is a welcome opportunity for all families in Wrexham to cut the cost of school uniform. All items of clothing at the Wellbeing Hub are completely free, in good condition and clean, and I hope that as many of people as possible come along over the summer holiday to collect what their children will need for the next school year.”
