Hard on the heels of the news that there will be free parking after 10am for Play Day we’re pleased to announce free parking will also be available to thousands of food lovers and their families when they descend on the town centre in September for the Wrexham Food Festival which takes centre stage on Llwyn Isaf 🙂
The event takes place on September 7 and 8 and free parking will be available at town centre council owned car parks but will not include Tŷ Pawb multi storey car park.
The charges apply after 10am. Anyone who wishes to park before 10am will be expected to pay to park as per the car park’s usual charges and this will be strictly enforced.

This year’s event is set to be bigger and better, with over 75 local and regional food producers expected, Chef demos from local restaurants, cookery classes, live music and even a fireworks display.
“Thousands into the town centre”
Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of the Council, said: “The Food Festival is set to bring thousands into the town centre and we’re keen to support this event which showcases all that Wrexham and the surrounding areas has to offer. I hope many of them take the opportunity to discover the town, particularly the excellent independent retail sector we have, and all that’s on offer for them right here in Wrexham.
“I’d like to thank everybody involved in bringing this event to the town centre and wish them luck for 2019.”
Alex Jones, Food Festival Organiser, said, “Huge thanks to Wrexham Council for this initiative, we had great feedback last year for those who used the free parking offer, visited the Food Festival and then headed into town. We hope the festival gives another boost to the local economy, and anything that helps people turning out to support the festival and the town over that weekend gets a thumbs up from us.”
“Charitable Donations”
Another of the Food Festival Organisers, Sam Regan, said, “After the success of the year one event, we are delighted to be inviting AVOW and Yourspace to receive their charitable donations at the event this year.”
“This year we are working with, and charitably supporting, The Walton Centre Charity, which holds a very special meaning to one of our voluntary team, but also to many people in Wrexham and in north Wales.”
“Their ‘Home from Home’ centre has been provided by the charity, for relatives who need somewhere to stay after a patient has been admitted for urgent treatment. The Home from Home is provided free to families who need it, thanks to our charity supporters and costs approximately £50,000 per year to run the unit.”
Andy Gallanders from Bank St Social is again organising the live events programme, “On the Saturday the Wrexham Lager stage (bandstand) will host a full local line up of local musicians with superb headliners Rhythm Train, and the Coverlovers are headlining Sunday.
Andy added, “It’s been a privilege for the second year running to be involved with curating the entertainment for Wrexham Food Festival. The addition of free parking is not only great for the festival, but a huge boost for the whole of the town, one we encourage businesses in the town to take advantage of!”
